Getting out on Lake Tahoe or Donner Lake is a must-do when visiting Tahoe in Spring and Summer months. Though paddling is peaceful and quenches even the most amateur adventure spirit, exploring Tahoe or Donner in motorboat is quite the experience. From wake surfing over 1500 feet of glass-smooth water in the early morning; exploring Emerald Bay from the lake vs all the hikers and shoreline visitors; to dropping anchor outside of Hidden Beach to enjoy lagoon swimming and shoreline exploration; taking in the lake via a boat is a must-do for those wanting to spend a day at the lake.
AWS is an excellent rental company if you wish to access the treasures of the east shore or cross the lake and explore Emerald Bay. AWS also rents kayaks, paddle boards, and they run cruises via their 60-foot Catamaran. Catamaran guests enjoy hosted wine, beer, and snacks.
Action Water Sports launches their boats from the Incline Village Hyatt pier, which itself is a fun place to enjoy the lake. The pier hosts a full bar, food, and cocktails service, as well as Lone Eagle Grill—a 5 star lakeside restaurant at the Hyatt.

They launch out of Carnelian Bay, which is a northern bay on Lake Tahoe. Access to the west shore is quite easy from here.

Donner Lake is one of the gems that Truckee offers. Located just 10 minutes from the hotel, the Lake is famous for involuntarily hosting the famed Donner Party back in 1846. Surrounded by the looming sierra crest and Donner Peak, the lake hosts thick high sierra forest, various beaches, docks, the Donner Memorial State Park, and miles of hiking trails via the state park. During summer the lake is frequented with jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards, boats, and fishermen. Rentals are available at Donner Lake Water Sports located on West End Beach or at the Marina.
