·         Tule Elk Refuge

·         Working Cheese Farm Tour

·         World-Class Cuisine

·         Wildlife Kayak on Tomales Bay

WHAT TOEXPECT:

We don’t waste any time diving into the delights of the region as we embark on a walk through historic Muir Woods on the way from the airport.  We will then spend the next three nights at the edge of Point Reyes National Seashore.  On the first day we will experience the Tule Elk Reserve as we hike to the easternmost tip of Pt. Reyes and enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Tomales Bay.  If time allows on this day, we will visit a working oyster farm and sample some of the local product.  The following day we hike to a secluded beach only accessible by foot where we enjoy a secluded lunch on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. In the afternoon we will visit a working cheese farm in Pt. Reyes for a special cheese tasting.

Before we depart for Mendocino, we will enjoy a morning kayak in Tomales Bay.  We will paddle toward Hog Island for a glimpse of harbor seals and resting waterfowl and shore birds. Once across the bay and to the western shore, we will paddle into White Gulch, keeping an eye out for Tule elk, bat rays, and leopard sharks.  After a delicious picnic lunch, it is northward to picturesque Mendocino.  While we are in his gem of a town, we will head deep into the redwood forests where the tree loom large and the surrounding landscape is lush with ferns.  On our final day, we will walk along the dramatic bluffs of the Mendocino headlands and say goodbye.
